Betsy Royster's love of barre began in 2015 as new mom in the Boston suburbs. A decade later, she is the co-owner and founder of Bayou Barre in Thibodaux, Louisiana where she proudly teaches Preservation Barre, the original technique, Bayou Barre, based on the NYC method, & classical pilates.

The late Esther Fairfax was a student of her mother, Lotte Berk-- a modern dancer, a WWII refugee, and an innovator. Esther did her bit to contribute to the evolution of her mother's technique, too, one which set foundation for "barre" as we know it. Esther was a brilliant teacher, leading students through exercise in the English countryside for decades.
Her legacy lives on through her students, trainees, and you!
